Ambi Pur – Escape into freshness

Now anybody who has ever been in Chennai during its annual rainy season of June and July will realize the full import of this particular post.

When it rains in Chennai, it pours, and to add to the powerful rains themselves is the fact that the Govt. and the municipal authorities don’t deem it necessary to create civic facilities which will allow all the rain water to drain out of the roads themselves.

A couple of things contribute to the overall mess

  1. the fact that the garbage collection trucks don’t do a professional job of clearing out the trash appropriately
  2. the fact that the roads in the city are not ‘sloped’ and ‘evened’ out which means that water can stagnate at pretty much random parts of the road
  3. the fact that none of the big roads have adequate drain openings which will allow the rain water to drain out into the drainage system.

These 3 factors mainly contribute to most cars in Chennai being reduced to amphibious vehicles during June and July where the average depth of the water on any of the main or arterial roads is between 6 and 10 inches.

Apart from the fact that cars have to wade through water, the garbage on the sides of the road also mix with the water and end up in converting the entire city to an unholy stink. Just imagine smelling wet used sanitary napkins, wet used baby diapers, wet organic waste, wet paper waste and wet plastic waste, all at the same time, and you get an overall idea of the Chennai Monsoon Smell (CMS).

And if you have heard about the heat and humidity of Chennai during the summer, multiply the same by a factor of 3x or 4x and you will end up with the humidity of Chennai during the rains. In such a scenario, there is no option but to roll up the windows and turn on the air conditioner in your car when you are driving. However, given the CMS outside and the humidity inside, what is it that a driver can do to breathe normally in Chennai.

The answer lies in a simple, handy and extremely effective gadget that Ambi-Pur India has launched – The Ambi Pur Mini Vent clip. This is a small device which can easily be fixed into your AC vent of your car and ensures that you don’t have to suffer due to CMS during these months. One refill of the freshener lasts for at least 45 days.

What is even better is that you have a choice of New Zealand Springs, Lavender Comfort, Sky Breeze, Light Citrus and Thai Dragon Fruit to choose from. I personally have completed one freshener of the Thai Dragon Fruit and am just about to start off sampling the Light Citrus. In fact, my car has become one of my most favorite destinations and driving one of my most cherished hobbies after I have started using Ambi Pur. After all, who wouldn’t like escaping into freshness. Who doesn’t like spending time in a place which is so fragrant that it reminds of you of some of the most exotic locations in the world.
